Schools and Education
Montpelier has about 1,000 students in its public schools. It supports one each elementary, middle and high school.
Higher education is a key to the local economy. Montpelier is home to a Community College of Vermont campus with 900 students; Vermont College and Woodbury College for adult learners.
One of the real gems of Montpelier is the New England Culinary Institute. It is home to 400 students and some of the top culinary talents to escape big city restaurants. The four-acre campus once was home to Food Network star chef, Alton Brown.
There also are eight other colleges nearby.
